mommy-daughter bonding

source: Mandi Ehman

Last week, my mom, oldest daughter and I hopped on an airplane to visit my grandmother and my cousin’s 9-year-old daughter in Florida. The girls have declared themselves “BFFs”, and it’s been a special time for the five of us — including trips to the beach, hours in the pool and — the highlight of the trip — a visit to Clearwater, Florida and a chance to see Winter, the dolphin star of Dolphin Tale.

Before we left, I asked my baby sister, who recently graduated from cosmetology school and got her license, to chop off all of my hair. I’ve been wearing it in a ponytail almost 24/7, and while I love it long when I take the time to straighten it, I decided I needed something that I could do on an everyday basis instead. I’m still figuring out how to style my “new” hair (it hasn’t been this short since high school and my curls are acting like they’ve finally been set free!), but so far I love it!

Here are some of my favorite posts from this week. As always, check out what I’m reading to see the other posts that make me stop and think. You’ll find new posts all week long!

Mandi- Thank you for posting the links about 50 Shades and Magic Mike. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only women out there who does not have the desire to see the movie or read the book and I am so glad I am not alone. I am Christian and try to live the way God wants to me live and I know the reason I don’t have the desire is because my love for Jesus and my husband prevents it. I am so happy there are other Christian women out there who are strong enough to stand up and speak against both of these. Kudos!! :)
