#1000miles

source: mandiehman on Instagram

Shannon recently convince me to join her in the #1000miles club. She’ll be walking/jogging/running 1,000 miles in 2013, and I’ll be biking beside her (figuratively) on our recumbent bike. I love the idea of this specific, overarching goal that is both fun and motivating but broad enough that I won’t be discouraged by a missed day along the way. And actually, I only need to do 6 miles every other day or so in order to meet the goal, so that definitely feels doable!

My friend Melanie is joining us as well (yay for more accountability!), and she’s actually tracking her progress on a map. Her goal is to make it to Savannah, Georgia.

Do you want to join us? Just leave a comment here if you’re in, and I’ll have a few check-in posts throughout the year. You can also tag your posts with #1000miles on Instagram!

Have you signed up for the new weekly newsletter yet? Our first edition goes out next Friday, so be sure to subscribe today!

Here are some of my favorite posts from this week. As always, check out what I’m reading to see the other posts that make me stop and think. You’ll find new posts all week long!

I’m not sure what she’s doing specifically, but I’ll ask her to Instagram it and then post the link!

Thanks for the real food links. We already eat pretty well (it’s all relative, right?), but can do better.

I love the back-to-basics posts too because they usually include a couple easy ideas to implement that I’ve either not thought of or gotten off track with! :)

I have been wanting to get better about charting my workouts so I am in! I run, bike and swim, does anyone know if there are any cool apps. out there that would plot your progress on a map for you?

I am also in! Will be 1610km for me, and have already done 10km walking this week in a very very hot Melbourne, Australia.
