Sean and I at the Auto Show in Detroit

It’s been a crazy busy week, with the start of the second half of our Classical Conversations program, our final Christmas celebration with Sean’s dad and a whirlwind trip to Detroit, courtesy of Ford, to attend the North American International Auto Show! We got to peek behind the scenes at some of the advances Ford is making in the technology, design and sustainability of their vehicles as well as attend the official unveiling of the 2013 Ford Fusion, which was a pretty cool experience!

Sean and I were asked to write a couple posts about our experiences, but I walked away with so many takeaways that I have several posts planned next week — not just to talk about cars, but to talk about social media and innovation as well. With lots and lots of pictures to hopefully keep it all interesting!

Here are some of my favorite posts from this week. As always, check out what I’m reading to see the other posts that make me stop and think. You’ll find new posts all week long!

Blogging {Making a Difference}

Although bloggers (hopefully) make a difference every day through the things they’re doing, here are two incredible stories — coincidentally posted on the same day! — from bloggers who are going above and beyond to give back. I am inspired by their stories and hope you will be too!

Have a great weekend!

    Oh Wow!  You were in the “D”?  It would have been nice to meet you.   The Auto Show is like one of our annual family field trips.  Here in Michigan.  Hope you enjoyed yourself!

      Thanks, Rana! It was a super busy trip, but we did really enjoy it!

    We just started back at CC yesterday. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things…also thinking about next school year too.

    I haven’t been to an auto show in ages! Sounds like you went to a fun one.

    We received your book today too. Very excited to check it out. Thanks!

      Ooh, fun, Joyce – enjoy!

      Are you trying to decide whether to continue with CC?

      • http://joyceandnorm.wordpress.com Joyce and Norm

        Yup, this year will be my older daughter’s Kindergarten year, so it’ll be more “official”. I didn’t really have a plan for this year except to be a part of CC and I had a few workbooks for her. I’ve been looking at some of the options that are out there to see what would be the best fit for her and for us. Any advice?

          I think CC is great if it’s part of your vision for your homeschooling program, but it can be burdensome on top of another curriculum. And I think maybe every curriculum is like that. There are so many options, which definitely makes it harder, but the good news is I really think even kindergarten year is kind of a time for exploring options and just having fun (in WV, it’s not even compulsory). I know that CC resonates in my spirit; it’s just the perfect fit for our family and our educational philosophies. I think as you research, something will click like that where you know it’s the place to start!

          Not sure that helps, LOL! Good luck as you research and pray and try to figure out what IS the right fit!
